Kalimba Tree
Named after Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Kalimba Tree” and the African thumb piano that became central to founder Maurice White’s musical language, this is a temple made from underwater fire.
Its forms rise and flow, reaching upwards while remaining rooted. The body and the temple are one and the same. Kalimba Tree captures the moment just before entering the liminal space between here and freedom, holding what has been carried forward alongside what is still becoming.
It considers the power of moving through the world as wholly yourself while remaining connected to something larger. We take our own shape by integrating parts of the whole, carrying them like ribbons flowing in our wake as we move.
