A warding vessel made to stand calm, chest out and feet down, come what may.

Sterkgevriet, literally translated from Afrikaans as ‘strong face’, carries a couple more layers of meaning in Cape Coloured slang. Brazen, fearless, courageous, moving through the world with moxie.

Collected on opening night at Ghouls Ghouls Ghouls, an exhibition by by Girls Gallery.
